English Bulldog Puppies for Sale in Maryland
Sweet and lovable, English bulldogs are very people-friendly. Although their faces resemble more of a pugilistic brawler, it’s important to note that part of their grooming includes wiping the folds of skin on their faces to prevent infection and reduce odor. They require less grooming and trims otherwise, as their coat is naturally fine and short. Coloring includes piebald, tan or auburn spotted fur.
English bulldogs typically weigh just over 50 pounds, with males a bit heavier and taller than the females, although neither generally grow much taller than 18 inches at the withers. The breed is recognizable for their thick neck and brachycephalic (short) face with heavy wrinkles. Their gait is a pigeon-toed waddle, making it difficult for them to enjoy long runs.
These dogs typify the characteristic English “stiff upper lip” — even-tempered, ideal pets for children. English bulldogs are relatively low-endurance and require only moderate exercise. While they’re calm around kids, these dogs were originally bred for “bull baiting” and retain that courage, making them great watchdogs, too.
English bulldogs are predictable and dependable; once they’re trained, they tend to react as conditioned. If you’re looking for a smaller dog that’s low-maintenance and good with children and crowds of people, the English Bulldog might just be the part of your family you’ve been missing.
